Building a curriculum to equip girls to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow

To design a curriculum that would meet the needs of middle-school girls (ages 11-14), we conducted several months of research including interviews with students, parents, and educators; classroom immersions; and more. Activities like listening to girls’ favorite Spotify playlists and subscribing to their favorite YouTube channels helped us further step into their shoes and see the world through their eyes. We then translated girls’ needs into an accessible and engaging 2-hour-long workshop curriculum. I led the curriculum design process, continuously taking our ideas from paper and post-its to Adobe Illustrator and print, as we prototyped, tested, and iterated on our approach in various classrooms.

Our teaching materials now reach 200+ educators in 15 countries globally.

We believe that teaching design thinking & girls leadership should be fun, easy, and accessible for everyone. After our cross-country road-trip, we combined our best practices into a series of teaching toolkits. Our flagship program, Find Your Drive, is a “workshop in a box” that arrives on your doorstep with all the materials you need to teaching. Make Your Mark is our second, follow-on workshop that can be downloaded online.

My responsibilities included:

  • Design and produce the Teaching Toolkits (including writing the Facilitation Guidebook and leading communications design on Illustrator)

  • Manage manufacturing, sales, and distribution

  • Gather feedback and iterate on the design

  • Create promotions and run digital marketing campaigns

In 2019, we re-branded our materials to a comic superhero theme.

I led the process of defining and carrying our new brand elements into our materials, including our comprehensive Facilitation Guidebook (shown below):

The Girl Possible workshop is thoughtfully designed, flawlessly executed, and providing girls an experience where they leave feeling empowered by their strengths, passions and opportunity to make an impact. The GP team is a brilliant example of the impact that women can make with an entrepreneurial spirit, creative mindset and passion to change the world.

We’ve designed water-bottles, shirts, and other branded merchandise, too.

Everything began with a simple sketch.

We’ve filled countless pages with ideas, workflows, and design challenges, ranging from the design of our physical RV motorhome, to new features on our website, product marketing ideas, and storytelling practices for the Teaching Toolkit.
